Episode 56: Inventing the future in soil science

It’s hard to study soil properties when the instruments you need don’t exist. That’s why world-renowned soil scientist Dr. Wolfgang Durner has spent his career working with METER engineers—and before that, UMS and Decagon engineers—to develop instruments with the accuracy, repeatability, and efficiency his projects needed.

Notes

Wolfgang holds a Ph.D. in Environmental Sciences and is an Emeritus Professor of Soil Physics and Soil Hydrology at Technische Universität Braunschweig. He is an expert in water movement in unsaturated soils and the characterization of soil hydraulic properties, with a strong background in both numerical simulation and experimental measurement techniques. He possesses in-depth knowledge of the theory and practical application of the HYPROP, KSAT, and PARIO systems.
